Hello, I'm Sofia
Project coordinator. Parent. Expat living in Madrid, Spain.
A number of years ago, I moved here with my family. What started as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Spain wasn't part of the long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it began as a work opportunity and soon grew into something far larger.
The first months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complex than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We discovered places that worked for us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt stable.
Why I Built Mellow Grove Wind
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site exists to fill that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Spain.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Practical insights from living in Spain
- Focused on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever a real change occurs
This site ISN'T:
- A tourism authority resource
- Sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Spain continues, and so does the learning process. As long as the information is useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, feel free to reach out.
Cheers,
Sofia
